Chile takes a key step toward advanced HPV screening with scientific endorsement of extended genotyping by PCR

Santiago, Chile – July 2025 – The Chilean Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology has published a new multi-panel consensus statement titled “Recommendations for the implementation in Chile of extended genotyping for human papilloma virus (HPV) in screening and follow-up”, marking a major milestone in the country’s efforts to prevent cervical cancer.

This achievement is the result of years of collaboration between national and international experts and supports the use of PCR-based extended HPV genotyping as the primary screening method. The proposal, based on scientific evidence from local and international guidelines (including WHO, ASCCP, IARC, and the Chilean Ministry of Health), promotes a more accurate, efficient, and sustainable strategy for early detection and optimized clinical management.

🔬 Key recommendations include:

The use of PCR assays with extended genotyping, such as Seegene Anyplex™ II HPV HR, for precise risk stratification.

Targeting women aged 35–45, especially those who are unscreened or at higher risk.

Phased implementation with cost planning, professional education, and promotion of self-sampling.

This advancement positions Chile as a regional reference and creates a favorable environment for adopting innovative molecular technologies such as those developed by Seegene, a global leader in molecular diagnostics.

At ATP Diagnóstica, we welcome this important step forward and reaffirm our commitment to supporting cutting-edge diagnostic tools across Latin America, aligned with global strategies for the elimination of cervical cancer.
